La Boquilla

I was delighted to be contacted by director Roberto Bosoms to work on the colour grading for his new documentary “La Boquilla”, which sheds light on the ongoing water crisis in northern Mexico and highlights the plight of farmers who have been fighting to protect their crops and livelihoods.

The documentary tells the story of a group of farmers in the state of Chihuahua who took over a water dam from the Mexican military to save their harvest from drought and lack of access to water. The farmers’ actions led to clashes with the authorities, resulting in several deaths.

The issue of water scarcity and the struggle for its access has become increasingly pressing in northern Mexico, as droughts and climate change exacerbate the problem. The situation has led to a “water war” between farmers and the authorities, who are responsible for managing the country’s water resources.

The documentary highlights the resilience and determination of the farmers, who are fighting to protect their land and livelihoods. It also sheds light on the government’s failure to provide adequate support and resources to address the water crisis, leading to a situation of conflict and violence.

Colour Grading for Documentaries

In La Boquilla the use of colour has been particularly effective in highlighting the contrast between the lush green fields of the farmers’ crops and the dry, barren landscape surrounding them. By enhancing the colours and contrast in the film, I’ve attempted to bring out the beauty of the farmers’ land and the importance of their struggle to protect it.

La Boquilla is a powerful and thought-provoking documentary that highlights the urgent need for action to address the water crisis in northern Mexico.

As a colour grading studio, we are committed to supporting filmmakers who are using their craft to tell important stories and bring attention to critical issues like this one.
